THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP

When we sleep well, we wake up feeling refreshed and alert for our daily activities. Sleep affects how we look, feel and perform on a daily basis, and can have a major impact on our overall quality of life. 
To get the most out of our sleep, both quantity and quality are important. If sleep is cut short, the body doesn’t have time to complete all of the phases needed for muscle repair, memory consolidation and release of hormones regulating growth and appetite. We wake up less prepared to concentrate, make decisions, or engage fully in school, work or the gym.

When you’re deprived of sleep, your brain can’t function properly, affecting your cognitive abilities and emotional state. If it continues long enough, it can lower your body’s defenses, putting you at risk of developing chronic illness. The more obvious signs of sleep deprivation are excessive sleepiness, yawning, and irritability. Chronic sleep deprivation or insomnia can interfere with balance, coordination, and decision-making abilities. You’re at risk of falling asleep during the day, even if you fight it. Stimulants like caffeine are not able to override your body’s profound need for sleep. 


NEUROPTIMAL AND SLEEP

Studies have shown that users who have suffered from a variety of sleep issues and disorders have seen a huge shift in their quality and length of sleep in as little as 1-5 sessions. Sleep issues ranging from difficulties falling, staying or getting back to sleep, night terrors and nightmares through to severe cases of insomnia have all been helped over the last 15 years through the use of NeurOptimal® neurofeedback.

RESEARCH

One study has shown a visible increase in data when tracking a user who has suffered from Insomnia and how Neuroptimal® Neurofeedback showed a marked increase in sleep quality and a reduction in broken sleep.
